Businesses Jump Through Hoops At Charity Netball Fundraiser
Ten businesses from across Worcestershire and beyond have raised £1,300 for a skin cancer charity as part of a popular annual netball tournament.
Over 70 players stood toe-to-toe in the recent inter-business charity event to raise money for Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s ‘Fighting Skin Cancer Fund’.
The indoor contest, held at Stourport Sports Club, was organised by Worcestershire-based financial planners Prosser Knowles Associates and saw the team from Barclays Bank scooping the winning trophy.
The tournament saw 20 matches played over 10 minutes with the Barclays team overcoming Ormorod Rutter in a tense final. Semi-finalists included reigning champions mfg Solicitors and newcomers, Heart of Worcester College.
Siobhan Record, a financial planner at Prosser Knowles Associates and the tournament organiser, said: “Our netball tournament has been a huge success again this year and I’d like to thank all of the businesses who took part and raised funds for a charity which is doing so much for people who suffer from cancer.
“It’s a fun event and everyone enjoyed playing again this year – although it does get a little more serious as teams see themselves creeping towards the final stages.”
Mrs Record also thanked kind-hearted businesses who donated prizes for the raffle which took place after the tournament.
“I am already taking enquiries for next year’s tournament and we look forward to hosting the event for many more years to come.”
Other businesses involved in the event included Painters Solicitors, Richards Sandy Partnership, Thursfields Solicitors, Tosoh Corporation and a joint team from legal firm George Green and accountants Crowe Clarke Whitehall.
