Your August 2023 Prosser Knowles team update

Welcome to your latest team update, featuring all the latest news from Prosser Knowles HQ. This time, we’re bringing news of wedding bells, career progression, and community engagement.

Keep reading to find out what our colleagues have been up to so far this summer.

Accounts executive, Lisa, tied the knot on 1 July

In happy news, Lisa Checketts, our accounts executive, married her partner Andy on 1 July.

The two tied the knot in a traditional church ceremony. They even rented a stunning 1928 Ford Model A to mark the occasion, before celebrating with family long into the night!

Congratulations, Lisa and Andy – what a special day!

Fizah Khan finishes her apprenticeship

One of our client services team members, Fizah, finished her college apprenticeship in July.

This milestone marked two years of Fizah working with us at Prosser Knowles, ensuring clients’ needs are met and keeping our day-to-day operations as smooth as possible.

We’re so proud of all that Fizah has accomplished, and will continue to support her development as she takes new steps in her career as a client services professional.

Our Golf Day helped raise hundreds of pounds for The Family Haven

As you may have read before, we regularly attend and host events to raise money for The Family Haven. This charity does vital work in support of vulnerable families across Gloucestershire.

Most recently, we hosted our annual Golf Day. Held at The Astbury on 16 June, this event included a challenge involving advisers and guests competing on the course in a round of “beat the adviser”.

This event raised £590 for the charity – a great result that showcased everyone’s true competitive spirits. Liz, from The Family Haven, attended on the charity’s behalf, and was very impressed by everyone’s golfing prowess!

Afterwards, we had an auction for a four-ball round of golf at the prestigious Bewdley Pines Golf Club – and happily, this part of the day raised an additional £130.

If you’d like to make your own donation to The Family Haven, you can do so on their website.

Rachel Robb passes her Certificate in Long-Term Care and Later-Life Planning

Mortgage and protection specialist, Rachel Robb, has passed her Certificate in Long-Term Care and Later-Life Planning (CertLTCP).

Rachel has worked at our firm for more than a decade, and spends her time discussing mortgage options with clients and lenders alike. She is also part of our new mortgage team that is dedicated to supporting clients with the changing market.

This new qualification will help her to better support clients heading into later life. Congratulations, Rachel, on all your exam success.

The Prosser Knowles team attended a young people’s career fair in June

As part of our work in the local community, we recently attended a careers event at Stourport High School, arranged by the Severn Academies Educational Trust. There were a number of interesting local businesses there who had arranged creative activities for the students to enjoy.

Team members Laura, Matt and Aaron manned our stand at the fair, ready and waiting to discuss careers in financial services with young people. They even ran a money-themed quiz, and the winner took home a money pig!

After the success of this event, we hope to attend and host more events that can help educate young minds in the future.

Helping The Family Haven to receive 3 years of funding from BBC Children in Need

As you read earlier, we work with a local charity, The Family Haven, who support parents and children living in vulnerable circumstances in and around Gloucestershire.

This includes families experiencing homelessness, fleeing abusive situations, or without enough income to feed and support their children.

Back in April 2023, a few members of our team helped out at the Snowdrop Open Days at Colesbourne Gardens, where The Family Haven managed to raise £3,052.16 at this event alone.

What’s more, thanks to the copywriting help from our appointed marketing agency, The Yardstick Agency, and support from multiple members of the Prosser Knowles team, The Family Haven have secured funding from BBC Children in Need.

The charity will receive £25,000 a year for the next three years – an amazing achievement.

This money may improve the lives of hundreds of local families, helping to provide them with housing, childcare, counselling, education, and a number of other vital services while they get back on their feet.

We’d like to thank The Family Haven for all the work they do in Gloucestershire, and congratulate them on receiving this huge grant.
